"...Purchased the 1450 Nuvi for two reasons: (1) I am a Garmin fan, having owned 6 units since 1992, and (2) this one was highly rated. I have an older nuvi with a 4" screen from 2009.

Pros: This later version has a larger screen, a very cool "text to speech" ability (it can say road and place names with surprisingly good pronounciation) and some very nice refinements. There is an amazing amount of data packed into here. This unit also has integrated traffic information and lifetime map updates, which is very nice...my 2009 unit offered map updates for more than I paid for the unit (so I was like, "forget about it!") As before, you can customize the voices and also your map vehicle avatar...you can find these extras online and very easily add them just by connecting the unit to your PC.

Cons: I still haven't figured out how to tell it to simply ignore certain roads I don't like to use, but it insists on directing me to. Its routing is occasionally strange, but eventually you will get to your destination. Also, the traffic information is often 30 minutes to 1 hour out of date, so relatively useless to me...."
