".....I purchased a Nuvi 2595LMT mainly to replace my old Garmin Street Pilot which was one of the best GPS portables out there for many years. My reasons for purchasing the Nuvi 2595LMT were for the free map updates and voice recognition. This is a totally hands free unit but also has a easy to use touch screen. The voice recognition works far better than I expected having use VR on many other products. No learning process for the unit and being an ole southern boy, it recognizes my commands, verging on a 100% accuracy. That's better than my wife, lol.

The 5" dia. screen read out and format are easy to read. This unit's functionality is very intuitive. It has an onboard user's manual which I really have not needed. With the 8 gig internal memory and Mini-SD slot it has more than enough space available for future use. With Bluetooth, VR and its many other features it is one complete unit. I do wish the battery life (2.5 hrs.) was a little longer, but considering that this is a little 5" monitor/mini computer, you shouldn't expect but so much. I highly recommend this unit for all types of users.  ....."

".....This is the first gps I've bought for myself. My husband has one, but he always hogs it for himself! I wanted one that would be at my disposal, and since our other one is a Garmin, I knew it would be a great gps. There are features about this gps that I like much better than my husband's......bigger screen (5 inches vs. 4.3 inches), brighter display (even in bright sunlight, and while wearing sunglasses), larger lettering, loud and clear speaker, "snapshot" view of busy interchanges, and how your current speed turns red if you are exceeding the posted speed limit. It's very easy to use, and updating the maps took an hour or less to complete (rather than 4+ hours that I'd read in other reviews). I'm very happy with my choice of gps units.....you can't go wrong with this one! ....."

"...I purchased this GPS primarily because it had European maps and to add the GPS to a rental car would have cost almost half the price I paid for the GPS on Amazon. On my trip to Germany and Italy it worked well:although occasionally the maps should have been updated to account for changes in roundabouts and a new road. It got me around well and I would recommend this GPS to anyone traveling to Italy or Germany. A GPS is almost a necessity in Europe for an American who is unfamiliar with the area.
I love this GPS...it picks up the satellite signal rather quickly and I love that it recalculates in a few seconds. The keyboard is nice and is easy to type in the city, address and street name. At first I couldn't really understand the voice when it was indicating point mile (is sounded like it was saying 1.5 miles instead of .5 miles). I learned to look at the indicator on the top left. For the money this is a great purchase! ..."

"...bought this to replace another brand that had failed almost right out of the box, this brand seems to be higher quality than other brands, got it quick, paid a little more but this is s class act !
First off, if you like bells and whistles in your GPS unit this is not for you, but if you want:
1. A very easy GPS to operate
2. A lightning fast satellite lock on
3. A bright easy to view screen in sunlight
4. A loud clear voice that will overcome road noise
5. A very nice lane assist feature

I've owned Tom Tom's, Mio's, Navigon's, and Magellan's but none had it all together like this nuvi 50lm has. The Tom Tom has a great lane assist feature but lousy voice. The Magellan had great information but a so-so lane assist feature. This Garmin nuvi 50lm has both great audio instructions and a great lane assist feature, the best of both features I've seen in one GPS. This is a no frills unit like Blue Tooth, MP3 player, photo viewer and the such. Its very meat and potatoes and the menus are intuitively laid out and simple to understand. The only reason I said "near perfect" is I wish it had a "way point" provision but sadly its only programmable to one destination at a time and without way points. Overall I'm more pleased with this GPS than with any I've owned before, which have been numerous looking for a GPS that has what I want. This certainly fits the bill. ...."

"...Purchased the 1450 Nuvi for two reasons: (1) I am a Garmin fan, having owned 6 units since 1992, and (2) this one was highly rated. I have an older nuvi with a 4" screen from 2009.

Pros: This later version has a larger screen, a very cool "text to speech" ability (it can say road and place names with surprisingly good pronounciation) and some very nice refinements. There is an amazing amount of data packed into here. This unit also has integrated traffic information and lifetime map updates, which is very nice...my 2009 unit offered map updates for more than I paid for the unit (so I was like, "forget about it!") As before, you can customize the voices and also your map vehicle avatar...you can find these extras online and very easily add them just by connecting the unit to your PC.

Cons: I still haven't figured out how to tell it to simply ignore certain roads I don't like to use, but it insists on directing me to. Its routing is occasionally strange, but eventually you will get to your destination. Also, the traffic information is often 30 minutes to 1 hour out of date, so relatively useless to me...."
